TSB Berlin Anual Reception 2011

Each year the TSB Technologiestiftung Berlin organizes its annual reception. This year VSS was also there. VSS was one of the few projects that had a possibility to present itself, its current results and prognosis for the future, to the guests that gathered at the Universal Hall in Berlin Moabit.

European Union Regional Policy – Press Conference and Follow-up Project Tour

Tuesday, 16. November

On November 16th 2010 a press conference focussing on the Regional Policy of the EU was held at the Institute for Pathology, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Among the invited guests were Mr. Dirk Ahner, Director General of the EU Directorate General for Regional Policy and Mr. Harald Wolf, Senator for Economy, Technology and Women.
During the press conference the “Virtual Specimen Scout” Project was presented. The joint project of Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Technical University Berlin, Vmscope GmbH and Nexus AG is co-financed by the European Union and is a good example of the successful support of research projects by the EU and Federal Land Berlin.    

After welcome words of Prof. Karl Max Einhäupl, chairman of the Charité, Prof. Manfred Dietel, Director of the Institute for Pathology, gave a short speech about the meaning of Pathology in medicine and the influence of digital technologies on modern pathology.

Prof. Peter Hufnagl, project coordinator and director of the “AG Digital Pathology and IT” work group, presented the Virtual Specimen Scout“-project, its purpose, content, duration, and goals. This project introduction was followed by a practical presentation of current results. Project team members, Mr. Zerbe, Dr. Leškovský, and Mr. Saeger showed press conference visitors how the digitalization of pathological slides looks like, aspects of current image analysis and problems and solutions that the project has to face.

VSS-Mid-year Status Meeting 2010

Wednesday, 15. September

The status meeting was used to present the current results to the sponsoring organizations. The already reached stratus was given in form of presentations and live demonstrations.

VSS-Workshop II

Wednesday, 17. February

The second workshop was focused on scenarios and use cases. After the presentation of the latest results from all partners the general design of the architecture was discussed.


Wednesday, 21. October

The first VSS-Workshop was at the same time a Kick-off meeting for the project. The discussion was focused on organizational themes, development platforms, cooperation rules and test bed implementation. Road map and next steps have been fixed.
